Who are you….. really?

6a00e554e887238833016766def001970bIf you ask, many Americans will say they are a Christian. You can meet two people, one living a carnal worldly life; the other a hyper religious life and both will profess to be a Christian. How is this possible? One has to begin to wonder, what is a Christian, really? Is the term “Christian” passe’? After all according to, at least American culture, one can be a Christian no matter what they believe. It is acceptable to pick which parts of the bible you agree with and leave the rest. You can even add to the bible your own beliefs and no one can judge you. After-all, it’s your spiritual journey and who is anyone to tell you what is right, right?

Sadly, this is where years of compromise has led us. The bible is at the mercy of man’s interpretation and therefore can mean whatever any individual decides or wants it to mean. Is this Christianity? Is this acceptable to God? Well it’s time we go to the bible and see what The Word of God says about this definition or is the bible the authority any longer? I’m happy to say it truly is to God and His true disciples. As a matter of fact I no longer feel great about saying I’m a Christian, lately I say I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ because there a so many people saying they are without taking it seriously.

There is still a remnant of true believers in The Kingdom of God who believe in The Word of God, Holiness and obedience to Him. I pray that all of us who call ourselves Christians, believers, and/or disciples of Christ would go back to scripture. I pray that we would earnestly pray, fast and study; not just poach out a few scriptures that we can twist to confirm what we already want to believe. I pray that we would examine ourselves (lifestyles and choices) against scripture, inviting the Holy Spirit to show us the world and its ugliness and how we are to relate to this world as disciples of Christ. We can’t have our cake and eat it too. We cannot justify being in love with the world and all it’s indulgences and profess The Kingdom of God. The two do not mix. The question is are you a disciple of Culture or a disciple of Christ, you must choose… Let us all look in the mirror and let the examination begin!! Only use the bible as your standard, not some book a guy wrote or a message from the latest popular televangelist. It’s time to get real about your faith. Let’s start with your conversion story, how and when did you come to Christ?

Damage Control: 5 Steps to refocusing on your goals.

The words I Quit written on a yellow sticky pad of paper written in black.

How often do you think this when the road gets tough?

Many times when we get our bright ideas, we are excited and caught up in the beginning of our creativity. Although, we must remember executing and then traveling through the process to reach a goal has many stumbling blocks. It is those moments that determine our victory. Do I get frustrated and give up, procrastinate, or function sub par? None of those choices will get us where we want to be. We must determine out the gate, if this is what we really want, that quitting is not an option. We must determine in our heart and mind to reach the finish line.finish-line-300x199

This means we should have a plan of strategic moves in the times of discouragement. After-all, it happens to the best of us! Sure there are those rare times when we set out to do a project or start the path towards our dream and everything flows without any interruptions, but this is not the norm.  Life says that anything worth having or building does not come with ease. It comes with much preparation, resolve and perseverance! Let me ask you, do you have a strategic plan of action for those moments of discouragement?

I recently had a challenge even with this blog and starting my YouTube channel. It seems though as soon as I had everything set up and ready to go, the flood gates of interruptions were opened. Everything that could come up in my life did. Nothing bad, just unexpected business and family issues that I did not have before. I looked up and two months had gone by without me blogging or working on my channel. I had to recognize what was happening and strategize so that it does not happen again…. When you’ve fallen off your game, here are 5 steps to getting your focus back!

  1. Remember why you started the project in the first place and list the benefits:  Remind yourself why you had enough creativity and ingenuity to begin this project or goal in the first place. Be specific and write it down. You may need the reminder when you run into road blocks.

  2. Forgive yourself: its easy to camp out in guilt or loserville, beating yourself up and making things worse or you can decide to put it all behind you and continue on, while learning where and how you missed the mark.

  3. Have make-up days or times already in your calendar: Not only should you have tasks in your calendar, but primary or important tasks should have a make-up day/time scheduled as well, that will allow you to still reach your goal in the midst of unexpected interruptions.

  4. Put others on notice!: Share your goal with family and anyone else who could possibly be an interruption. You do not have to go into specific details, but just let them know you are in an important season where focus is needed and you may not be as available as you once were. It will prepare them for the word NO.

  5. Make peace with saying NO!: This is still a hard one for me, but we must recognize our seasons in life and know that we cannot do everything all the time. If you have started a business, a blog, gone back to school, or in your first year or two of marriage; you have to be fully engaged and focused. That means saying NO to those things that will steal your focus. Those who truly care about us will understand. It also creates accountability and may even excite those who will cheer us on!

Now get back up and get going! Here is the bonus tip: Pray, Pray, and Pray some more. Ask God to lead you and He will. He loves when we are doing things that bring Him glory!

Do you feel like your life or mind is a messy room?

There was a guy I knew once, he was homeless and struggling with addiction. My hubby and I, by the leading of the Holy Spirit took him in. Of course the guy had his story, we all have a story. When you work in the type of ministry as we do, you hear many of them. The trick is getting to the TRUE story. It is our human nature to tell our story from a place of victimization. Somehow we are masters at leaving out our part that caused us to be in the situations we find ourselves in. Knowing this, my hubby and I are very prayerful and try our best to be as welcoming to the Holy Spirit as humanly and spiritually possible. Letting Him know we need Him desperately at all times. After-all, helping people is a dirty job, but someone has to do it! As Christ followers, we are called to get dirty, in the mud and even suffer a bit with the spiritually, emotionally, mentally and even physically lost and suffering. Well without going into all of this particular guy’s personal struggle. It became obvious that he wanted all the benefits of help (roof, money, food, etc…), but did not want to own his part or change the way he “did life”.

victim mentality quote

I remember when I went through a trial years ago where many things in my life that were sinful and superficial were stripped from me and left me and my children living in a home for women. Although, I gave up my apartment at the time and went there voluntarily, it was still one of the hardest times in my life. This place was one step up from a shelter. They gave you a roof, 3 meals a day, life skill classes (which I hated) and helped you get training and/or find employment. I just went there to start from scratch and have my life built on God’s foundation and not my own. I could tell you much more, that would singe your eyelashes, but for the sake of this post, let’s just say I suffered greatly. It was horrible, painful, and many times I wanted to just close my eyes and not wake up. God was redefining my life. He had to tear down and rebuild, but it was a very painful process. A necessary and  key ingredient of this process was, I was ready to just surrender. Even though I did not understand every little thing that was happening at the time, I knew it had to be God. Certain things were not making any sense. People I had helped for years were suddenly unable to return the favor. I was completely left on my own, it was me and God. He was showing me He was my provider, my protector and my deliverer.

Many times we want the blessings and all the promises of Christ, but are not willing to surrender or change. We want to profess we are believers without a true transformational journey in Him. We want all the gain with no pain (sorry I couldn’t resist0750). It’s like a child who is told to clean his room and then he’ll go fishing with Dad, so he stuffs all the mess under the bed and in the closet and gives his room the impression of being clean, when actually there are loads of hidden clutter that has not been properly dealt with. The child gets angry with Dad when his mess is discovered and is told, “No Fishing!” The child then pouts, protests as if he deserves a reward for his disobedience. Does this sound familiar?

I always say, adults are no more than big children running around the earth pouting and protesting when we can’t get our way, but refuse to do things God’s way. You can pout, protest and shout, but is it getting you anywhere? Why do we expect to still receive the promises of God when we will not truly allow Him to be Lord in our lives? I would say it’s easier to just surrender to God and His process in your life. It may be inconvenient, you may feel a little pain, but it is Sooooooo worth it in the end. He will transform you from the inside out and your life will be a more precious and pleasant experience to live each day. Is your life or mind a messy room? What areas of yourself are you still holding that you need to surrender to Christ? Start with praying and repentance, being honest with yourself and deciding to give up laziness, that should be a great start to allow God to work in you for His good. #SomethingToThinkAbout

5 Weapons To Kill The Procrastinator In You!

Why do we procrastinate?ScarletOHaraInBed

It is almost like a guilty pleasure or a frenemy we love to hang out with. I should know. I used to be the queen of waiting until the last-minute for many important things. I would especially wait until the last-minute for things I really did not enjoy doing, but knew they must get done. The sad part is I would many times have plenty of time to get things done, but it’s like this little demon was whispering in my ear and coaching me to wait until I had just the right amount of NOT ENOUGH TIME! 10-Free-Smiley-Face-With-Black-Eye

Sometimes it was even a bit of an adrenaline rush to see if I could pull it off and I did about 80% of the time. Although, many times I did not  make the deadline; whether it was a doctor’s appointment, class assignment, making dinner, etc… I would even lie to myself and tell myself there’s not enough time.

Well one day I decided this has to stop. Yes, I’m getting things done, but how much more efficient could I be if I stopped the procrastination? Also, make no mistake many successful people are covert procrastinators. I should know, I was one. To others I seemed rather efficient, but I knew I had a problem. Then there came a day when my responsibilities increased and I had more things to do, so if I continued this path of, “I bet I can trick time!!,” I would fail miserably and I knew it. It was time to face my demon and kick it to the curb!!!!82-Angry-3D-Smiley-Shouting-Free-Vector-Clipart-Illustration

I was about to commit murder, Last Minute Lucy had danced her last tango with me!!! Here are five weapons to kill the procrastinator in you…

  1. bow-and-arrow2Be honest

with you: Admit to yourself that the father of procrastination is pure laziness. God already knows, so you might as well come clean. “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” -Proverbs 13:4

  2. Repent: Repentance is POWERFUL! Tell The Lord you are sorry and you do not want this in your life anymore and ask Him to help you overcome this wicked habit. Afterall, it’s keeping you from doing great things!♥
  3. Resolve that you will tackle the hard things first and foremost! Be brave, Get’er done! (In my redneck voice…lol)
  4. Become a Planner: Start planning out your weeks and/or days ahead of time and stick with it. This will make a big difference in your life and it’s kind of fun and will make you feel more productive. You will be a manager of your time instead of your time being your attacker! (Find me on Instagram. I have a lot of encouragement for organization and planning, @Inspirational_Pink )
  5. Accountability: Last, but not least, grab yourself a couple of accountability partners to hold you accountable! The bible tells us to confess our faults one to another that we may be healed(James 5:16)! Accountability is healing. Make sure it’s someone you can’t intimidate into shutting up and leaving you alone, but who will encourage you to stick to your goal!

When you seriously implement these weapons to destroy the procrastinator in you, you will see amazing results that will lead you to victory! Remember change is sometimes a journey and even if you fall off the horse, the faster you get back up and begin again, the better. You can never be perfect, but you can always Be Better!

Watch new cable show, “Wicked Lies for SEX”

240_F_70206974_OesszIEbPIFVZ5lmvGS5Xac3NjkQzxED

There is a new show coming out about a narcissistic, highly intelligent sophomore college student who seduces a group of high school boys to form a club to see who can get the most elementary school girls to sleep with them. What these naive boys think is just a fun dare turns out to be a secret underground sex trade and once you are in, there is no way out… Crimson is a Senior with honors and has to choose between his addiction to sin, secrets and pleasure or risking everything to do the right thing.

Hey why not?confused  It would fit right in with all the other shows that outwardly promote sin and mock Christ, like:

  • Californication
  • Shameless
  • The Affair
  • Masters of Sex
  • Gigolos
  • House of Lies
  • Polyamory (Married & Dating)
  • 7 Deadly Sins
  • Scandal
  • Power
  • Sister Wives

Have you noticed there is no longer a good guy and bad guy, it’s bad or really bad guy. Satan is not even trying to be subtle any longer, he’s just all out there with it and America is eating it up. It’s no wonder between sin infested Hollywood, kicking God out of our schools, government and churches (yes I said churches!) and promoting sexual immorality and killing babies, why our community and culture are a mess!!! The really sad thing is many so-called professed Christians are the audience who help keep these ratings up for these shows. Then we have to hear from spiritually ignorant people over and over say, “Let people do what they want, as long as it’s not hurting anybody.” Can someone define HURT for me please? Does that mean as long as I’m not shot between the eyes with a double-barreled shotgun? Is our culture so dumb these days that we have forgotten that no man is an island, what one does or does not do, sooner or later affects those around him; even if the effect is slow and does not manifest until generations later? That is exactly what has happened. This toleration of sin has been a slow fade for decades and here we are…

sick-smiley

Only God can get us out of this mess. Those of you whose eyes are open and see the truth, please pray for discernment always, knowledge, wisdom and courage to speak out against sin. We have to love people enough to share the whole true gospel of Jesus Christ with them, not just the ear tickling parts. Would the REAL believers please stop participating in the strategies of the enemy and stand up for Christ?!!! How long will you waver between two opinions? Choose this day whom you will serve.

1 Kings 18:21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said,

How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.

Matthew 6:24

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

BTW: I totally made up that show, it’s not real. Just an example of how easy it is to think up smut…

Lord please help us!

Only Happiness and Positivity allowed!!!♥

We live in a culture now where everyone is trying to focus only on positivity and happiness. Well, that can work against you if you are not careful. A well balanced productive person and/or great leader is one who is aware of the strengths and weaknesses not only of themselves, but also those on their team. In other words, we must look at the negatives or our weaknesses and have the wisdom to use them to our advantage and reach our goals.

positive-quotes1

annoyedI see posters like this circulating all around social media and it sounds like it makes sense, but it is simply not biblical.  Not only do we need to face the uncomfortable and hard things about ourselves, but we also are called to deal with difficult and sinful people. Jesus spent most of his time with the sick, poor and even His enemies. I do not believe it was predicated on them to “lift Jesus higher.”confused

We must be careful not to let the humanistic brainwashing strategies of the culture influence our mentality and attitudes as believers and disciples of Christ. We have to remember that we are called the Body Of Christ for a reason. We compliment one another. God uses our weaknesses/negatives as well as strengths/positives for His glory. He said His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:8-10). That goes against everything the world teaches! Yes we are to look on the bright side and think on good things, although, we also are called to examine ourselves, face our sinful nature and trust God to cover us where we have no control over our deficiencies. We are called to deal with the broken hearted, unlovable, the poor, the weak, the hungry, the downtrodden, etc… That does not sound like a bunch that will lift me higher, I must look to Christ to lift me higher. Of course, God will also bring encouragers in our life. He gives us those brothers and sisters in Christ who lift our spirits, but that does not mean we neglect or reject those who can offer us nothing. Remember, in all things we must rely on The Holy Spirit to give us balance and wisdom. A negative + a positive can = a positive! Therefore, do not be quick to hop on the Positive/Happy Train with the world. We need The joy of The Lord to sustain us and “lift us higher”, not this trendy positivity and happiness that is fleeting.
